The ELCA’s Young Adults in Global Mission (YAGM) program is currently accepting applications on a rolling basis, and applications are accepted year-round. Those who apply by February 1 will be considered for the service year beginning the following August. Priority will be given to those who apply before January 15.
LAMPa’s Hunger Advocacy Fellow. Quentin Bernhard, served as a YAGM in Senegal this past year.
“YAGM allows young adults to have experiences that can be challenging, powerful, growth-filled, meaningful, and transformative,” said Bernhard. “The hospitality and companionship that I experienced in Yeumbeul Bene Baraque in Senegal has helped me understand the power of accompaniment and changed my understanding of my faith, relationships, and community in ways that I carry with me every day.”
The YAGM program invites ELCA young adults ages 21-35 into a transformative, year-long journey in international service. As they offer themselves in service, ELCA young adults are shaped by the witness of our global neighbors. They share in the journeys of companion churches and organizations in one of six country programs around the world.
Young adults serve in the spirit of accompaniment, walking alongside global companions in a manner that practices mutuality, interdependence, and solidarity.
Current YAGM country programs include: Argentina/Uruguay, Central Europe, Jerusalem/West Bank, Mexico, Senegal, and the United Kingdom.
